We led the technical training organization to introduce a certification model that built field service engineer expertise faster, while further ensuring credibility with customers. The stair-stepped certification process involved field engineers getting classroom/hands-on training by other, more experienced field engineers, an exam, followed by OJT with a mentor who oversaw the work.  In the process, we built a program to develop technical trainers to capture critical knowledge for the organization.
